Chinese calligraphy is the writing of Chinese characters as an art form, combining purely visual art and interpretation of the literary meaning. This type of expression has been widely practiced in China and has been generally held in high esteem across East Asia.
I am a calligraphy enthusiast who has been self-learning calligraphy for many years through reading calligraphy books. In this portfolio, I want to share my experience of learning calligraphy and showcase my calligraphy works. I was first introduced to calligraphy because of my love for traditional Chinese culture, especially my admiration for calligraphy.
So, I started reading various calligraphy books and learning calligraphy through copying. During my self-learning process, I encountered many difficulties but gradually grasped the essence of calligraphy through continuous practice and exploration.
This portfolio showcases my calligraphy works in recent years, including different styles such as running script, regular script, and cursive script.I use traditional Chinese painting tools, such as brushes and rice paper. The content of my calligraphy works are ancient Chinese poetry.
